This tool turns a number or short text into a barcode image. Choose a barcode type, type the data to encode, and the barcode is drawn straight away on a white background. Download it as a PNG with a file name you set, or copy the image to the clipboard.
It supports ten formats through the JsBarcode library: CODE128, CODE39, EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, ITF-14, MSI, Pharmacode, Codabar and CODE93. You can adjust bar width (1 to 5), bar height (50 to 200 px), margin (0 to 30 px) and the size of the text printed under the bars (10 to 30 px), or hide that text. The bars are always black on white. Sample buttons fill in example data for CODE128, EAN-13, UPC-A and CODE39.
Why this runs on your device
The barcode is drawn on a canvas in your browser by a library bundled with the site, so the number you encode is never sent to a server. That is useful for internal inventory codes or serial numbers you do not want to type into a third-party generator.
- Choose the barcode type.
- Type the number or text to encode, or press a sample button.
- Adjust bar width, height, margin and the printed text if needed.
- Download the PNG or copy the image to the clipboard.
- Each format only accepts certain characters, and the tool does not validate as you type. If the data does not fit the format (letters in EAN-13, the wrong length, a bad check digit) you get an error message and the barcode on screen is not updated.
- For EAN-13, EAN-8 and ITF-14 you should enter one digit fewer than the full length (12, 7 or 13 digits) and the check digit is added for you. If you enter the full length, the last digit must already be the correct check digit. The EAN-13 and EAN-8 sample buttons fill in numbers whose check digit is wrong, so they produce an error instead of a barcode; edit the last digit or delete it.
- A barcode that looks right on screen is not a registered product code. Retail EAN and UPC numbers come from GS1 prefixes issued to your company, and this tool cannot create or check those.
- The output is a PNG only, with no SVG or PDF export, and the colors cannot be changed. For print, make the barcode large and test it with a scanner before you rely on it.
- Characters outside the format's set, such as accented letters in CODE128, are not accepted.
